Wijnand
BEZUIDENHOUT, afkomstig van Holland, het voor die
einde van die 17e eeu in Suid-Afrika aangekom, waar hy hom
as baastuinier in die Kaap gevestig het. Op 23 September 1668
is hy in die eg verbind met Jannetje GERRITS
van Amsterdam. Vier kinders is uit die huwelik gebore:
(1) Helena (1669), getroud met Johannes WESSELS, die stamvader
van die Wessels familie in Suid-Afrika.
(2) Geertruij (1671), getroud met ‘n VAN ENGELEN.
(3) Izaak (1673), jonk oorlede.
(4) Wijnand (1673), van wie die hele Bezuidenhout-geslag afstam,
is vir die tweede maal getroud met Gerbrecht BOSHOUWER op
18 Desember 1717 (sy was die dogter van Pieter Boshouwer en
Adriaentje VAN CATHRYN (en Adriaentje was die dogter van Catrijn
van Malabar en stiefdogter van Cornelis Claasen). Hy trou
weer op 10 Oktober 1728 met Johanna Catharina BOTHA; 16 kinders.

There is an error in the above entry for Wynand Bezuidenhout.
His son,
Wijnand, is stated to have married Gerbrecht Boshouwer on 18.12.1717 and
remarried Johanna Catharina Botha on 10.10 1728, but the TANAP
transcriptions of the Inventories of the Orphan Chamber, inventory of the
estate of the overleeden lantbouwer Wijnand Wijnandsz Bezuijdenhoud en
desselfs naar gelaatene weeduwe Gerbregta Boshouwer (MOOC 8/4.51), is dated
26th October 1723. Wynand could not, therefore, have remarried in 1728.
In the same inventory, Gerbrecht and her 6 children are named as
beneficiaries. The ages of the children imply approximate birth dates of
1707, 1710, 1711, 1713, 1715 and 1719, suggesting that Gerbrecht and
Wijnand were married some ten years earlier than stated. The oldest child
was named Wijnand, and it may be that he married Johanna Catharina Botha in
1728, when he would have been about 21.
