If
you would like to send information on a stamouer, here are some
guidelines.
What is a Stamouer? This is the afrikaans word for the Founding Father, Progenitor, First of the Line, the first of the Dynasty. Various terms are used but essentially the concept for this web site means the first person or couple who established any particular family in South Africa.
We want information on both male and female stamouers.
Unlike many traditional South African genealogy publications, we consider the women to be as important as the men.
Please submit both the male and female stamouers. You can do that
as separate postings or combine them both in one article.
In what
Format do you want the material? You
can send it in the format that pleases you. There is a great variety
in the current stamouers pages - have a look at the styles and formats
that others have used. Please send your article as a pen-ultimate.
You can send the material either
as an e-mail message or as an attachment.
Do
you want source references? Please supply the source reference for both the published works and/or documents from which you have
gleaned your information.
Who
gets the credit? The
persons who submits material gleaned from printed sources will
be credited as the one who made the submission. People
who have clearly done some primary research and provide their documentary sources will be credited as the researcher. The sources that have been
used will also receive credit. In all three categories there may
be more than one person or source given credit.
Will
the project grow and how will it grow? You
can help it grow. Even each stamouer will expand, since
so many of us are descendants of the same stamouers. I can see the
project and the supplied material expand to such a degree, that
it will become a combined effort and it would be hard to reflect
the credit in such a growing dynamic.
I have my own family web page. If
you have a family web page that deals with the family please include its address as one of your source references.
I notice that there are some errors or material that has been left out. Please
bring this to our attention and supply the appropriate material, along with source references and/or arguments.
We look forward to hearing from you. We reserve the right to either edit or reject any contribution. Please contact us at
